Summary

The PCB Librarian Lead Engineer oversees the full lifecycle of component libraries, with direct responsibility for developing, maintaining, and managing logic, physical, and 3D component data. This role is vital for ensuring manufacturability, requiring a diligent review of vendor datasheets, rigorous verification of all component symbols and tolerances, and proactive engagement with vendors. The primary scope of this role involves the comprehensive creation, ongoing maintenance, and strategic management of Logic, Physical, and 3D component libraries.



Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Library Lifecycle Management: Responsible for the creation, upkeep, and overall management of logic, physical, and 3D component libraries.

  • Symbol Development: Develop logic, physical, and 3D mechanical symbols in compliance with vendor datasheets and CLS standards.

  • Secondary Source Support: Handle the creation, verification, and maintenance of logic, physical, and 3D mechanical symbols for all second-source components.

  • Technical Validation: Analyze component datasheets and interface with vendors to validate data accuracy and ensure tolerances are suitable for manufacturing.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Component Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of electronic and mechanical components.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools, with a preference for Cadence Allegro.
  • Manufacturing Insights: Deep familiarity with PCB and PCBA fabrication standards, including the influence of specific component parameters on production outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Interaction: Demonstrated capacity to engage with suppliers and both internal and external clients effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional command of English, delivering logical and concise messaging through both written and verbal channels.

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. 
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Typical Experience

  • 5 to 8 years of related experienc;Experience in similar job roles

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Mechanics, or a related industry field.
